02. Build Your Project

Research

Look around and research topic for the project. This can be:

  • One or more VR companies.
  • One or more VR applications (how VR is used).
  • One or more industries that have the potential to be impacted by VR and how.

Showcase the Findings from Your Research

For this project, we will only accept Cardboard with Unity submissions. Create a VR scene with navigation and instructions, which showcases the findings from your research. This could take the form of a gallery, a museum, or a more creative showcasing of the topics at hand. This scene should include at least 5 'display points' which educate viewers on the topic at hand. These display points can use VR objects, text, images, or video to convey the information at hand and must also emit relevant audio (either educational or complementary to the theme). Users should be able to freely navigate around the space to learn about the topic you have researched.

User Testing, Iteration, and Documentation

Make sure you apply the principles of testing, iteration, and documentation that you learned during the VR Design course and that you include a link to the write-up in your project's README file.

Plan your final project submission size

You should look up the maximum uncompressed folder size before you build your project. The size limit will be listed under the CHOOSE FILE button to upload your zip archive. Look it up now so you don't add too many assets, only to find out you can't submit it later.

Deploy, Test, and Optimize

  • Be sure that the scene runs on your device and meets the project requirements.
  • Make sure performance is acceptable.
  • Apply what you learned in prior courses to optimize the scene.

Time to submit your project!
